Preparing For Christmas

Preparing For Christmas

The end of lockdown is here and Christmas is just around the corner! It is time to dig out your best frock, get out of your lounge wear and start preparing for silly season.

Start Preparing Early

It is already the beginning of November and with lockdown only just ending we are all behind when it comes to preparing for Christmas.

First things first is you need to have a discussion with the family. Where is it going to be? Who is hosting? Who is cooking what? How many people are coming? Etc, etc. Once these details are decided and set in stone, preparations can begin.

I for one, work well when I have a list. Write everything down! This will really help avoid forgetting something and crossing items off as you go is more than satisfying.

Many of us are guilty of leaving everything to the last minute and tackling the shops at 11pm on Christmas Eve! This can be stressful for some and that is not what Christmas should be about.

Buying & Preparing Food

Due to the pandemic many shops are low on stock and are struggling to keep up with demand now that Victoria is out of lockdown.

The best time to do your food shopping is as soon as possible! It would be a good idea to buy the food you need that can be frozen even a month before the day. This will ensure you do not miss out on certain items as food can sell out quickly.

Be sure to try and support Australian owned and made brands to support the local in these hard times.

Presents!

Presents are what make Christmas, Christmas and it is something you need to be organised for.

Figuring out exactly who you need to buy for is a good start. From there, put the thinking cap on and decide what you are going to get for everyone. This can be the hardest part. Once you have that sorted, shopping will be a breeze.

If you are more of an online shopper, ensure you purchase the presents well in advance as postage times can be heavily delayed around Christmas.

Getting Your Home Ready

Decorating your home and setting up ready for Christmas Day can be very exciting but sometimes overwhelming.

Begin by cleaning and decluttering your bench space and fridge to allow space for food. Once you have a clean canvas, you can start decorating. Start preparing for the guests by ensuring there are enough tables and chairs for everyone.

Getting these things done as soon as possible will allow for a stress free lead up to the day.
